Achtung! Bayern get battered at Bochum after a shocking first-half havoc

Lewandowski opened the scoring early on, but the underdogs netted four in a furious comeback to stun the Bavarians (4-2)

One of the first lessons you learn as a young journalist is that it's not news if a dog bites a man, but the other way around.

And what Bochum did today against giants Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga tie is living proof of that "a man bites a dog" lecture. The mid-table slot tarnished the Bavarians in a manner unseen in Germany for decades.

The underdogs smashed Bayern 4-2 (4-1) after coming from behind, following Robert Lewandowski's opener in the 9th minute. A ferocious Bochum's thunder followed - in the span of just half an hour, they scored four to shock the current champions!

This was the first time Bayern conceded four in one half ever since 1975, which speaks for itself. Moreover, Julian Nagelsmann confronted Bochum with a squad packed with regulars and stars such as Lewandowski, Moeller, Sane and others.

Nevertheless, it didn't seem to bother the hosts too much, with Antwi-Adjei, Locadia, Gamboa, Holtmann putting their names on the scoresheet.

The Bavarians suffered a genuine knock-down, struggling to get up for the vast part of the game before Lewa converted another following a couple of misses.

Even with this unexpected setback, Bayern are still sitting comfortably at the top of the table, nine points aloft of the runners-up Borussia Dortmund. However, such a dreadful defeat will certainly pour in some instability into the squad ahead of their Champions League battle against RB Leipzig scheduled for Wednesday.
