Action for Stars Abroad in Zambia, Finland, Thailand and China

Several Kenyan internationals in action across various leagues abroad on Sunday afternoon.

Zesco 3-0 Chambishi FC

Harambee Stars custodian Ian Otieno featured the entire match as Zesco United thrashed Chambishi FC 3-0 in a Zambian Super League game played at the Nkana Stadium.

Former Wazito and AFC Leopards striker Vincent Oburu however was not part of the Zesco United match day squad.

Nathan Sinkala opened the scoring for Zesco on 42 minutes via a powerful header off a freekick and Sakala Jr doubled the lead just before the breather.

Eswatini defender Lindo Mkhonta made it 3-0 on 56 minutes to seal off the match.

Despite the easy pickings for Zesco, Man of the Match Nathan Sinkala was quick to point out that the outing wasn’t that easy for him and his teammates. Zesco are currently sixth on the log with 46 points from 31 matches. With Power Dynamos having already sealed the league title, Zesco are hoping to finish second and get a stab at continental football.

“It was really a tough match to be honest as they made it really difficult for us especially in the second half and I am just glad we managed to get the three points. Our target is to finish second and we’ll therefore continue fighting hard in the remaining matches,” he said in his post-match interview.

Up next for Zesco is an away game against Nchanga Rangers on Saturday 6th May.

Kansashi Dynamos 2-1 Green Buffalos

Jesse Were was also not part of the match day squad as Kansashi Dynamos edged Green Buffalos 2-1 at the Lumwana Stadium. According to an update by the club, the former Tusker FC striker is sick.

Collins Sichenje full league debut in Denmark

Former AFC Leopards midfielder turned centerback Collins Sichenje played the entire match as KuPs registered a 2-0 win over IFK Mareinhamn in the Finnish top-tier.

After a goalless first half, Urho Nisilla opened the scoring on 52 minutes with Seth Saarinen doubling the lead six minutes later. KuPs are third on the log with seven points after five matches.

Ayub Timbe features in the China League One

Harambee Stars winger Ayub Timbe featured for slightly over 60 minutes as his Najing City side played to a 1-1 draw with Donnguan United in the China League One.

Jefferson opened the scoring on 74 minutes but Feng Xiaoting equalised with five minutes left on the clock. Najing are second on the log with four points after the two opening matches of the season.

Eric Johanna on the losing end in Thailand

Former Mathare United forward Eric Johanna was on the losing end in Thailand as Muangthong lost 1-2 to Chiangrai United. Brazilian defender Victor Cardozo opened the scoring for the winners after two minutes with Nelson Bonilla doubling the lead on 53 minutes. Muangthong's consolation was scored by Willam Popp on 65 minutes.

Muangthong are now fourth on the Thai top-tier with 47 points from 28 matches. Buriram United, Ayub Timbe's former side are at the helm with 70 points having played the same number of matches.
