The highly charged 24th Ingo Derby, staged on Sunday, 4 January at Nyayo National Stadium, ushered in the New Year with a strong show of fan support for Ingwe.
While the result did not favour Ingwe, the club confirmed that the derby attracted a significant turnout, translating into impressive match-day revenue.
In a post-match update, Leopards revealed that a total of 3,170 tickets were sold for the eagerly anticipated clash.
Of these, 339 were VIP tickets while 2,831 were regular terrace tickets.
With ticket prices set at Ksh500 for VIP and Ksh300 for regular admission, the club raked in a total of Ksh 1,018,800 from gate collections.
“We sold a total of 3,170 tickets—2,831 for terraces and 339 for the VIP section in our FKF-PL match against Kakamega Homeboyz at Nyayo Stadium.
We take this opportunity to thank all of us for purchasing the tickets, turning up for the match, and for your cooperation at the gates,” the club announced.
The amount marked a significant rise of Ksh 328,900 compared to their previous home fixture.
In their last match before the festive break, played on Thursday, 18 December 2025 against Ulinzi Stars, Leopards collected Ksh689,900 from gate takings, which was, however, one of their lowest gate collection this season.
However, the financial gains could not mask the disappointment on the field.
Kakamega Homeboyz silenced the Ingwe faithful with a lightning start, as Henry Omollo struck just a minute into the match to hand the visitors a 1-0 victory and Ingo Derby bragging rights.
The defeat proved costly for Fred Ambani’s charges, who missed the chance to cement their grip at the summit of the 18-team league standings.
Leopards slipped to second place on 24 points, surrendering top spot to Homeboyz, while also seeing their six-match unbeaten run come to an abrupt end.
Despite the setback, the impressive gate collection underlined Leopards’ endearing pull and the unwavering support of their fans, even in moments of adversity.
