Aussems has been in charge of AFC Leopards for the last two years, and he is loving it in Kenya.

Patrick Aussems' African sojourn began in Cameroon and has since worked in eight countries in the continent including Kenya.

Of the eight, the Belgian attests it is Kenya he has enjoyed living and working in the most for various reasons. "It's (Kenya) the best place regarding how beautiful the country is," said the former Tanzania's Simba SC manager.

The 58-year-old who has now spent two years in the country is also impressed by the welcoming nature of Kenyans and their kindness. The weather has also been favorable.

"...before I was in Tanzania, Congo and Sudan, uh! For a white man like me, it's terrible because I sweat all the time."

He further revealed that it is only Kenya his wife has come to stay with him. "In the other countries she only came for holidays and went back to France where I stay, but now she lives with me."

Aussems also said that his sons who stay in Canada will soon come to visit. He underscored the close working relationship he has with his players, saying that it is not possible for them to perform on the field if they are not settled off it.

"As a coach, I need to love my players and I love my players. And it's important to have this relationship and they appreciate me for that, and so we have a good connection."

For the time he has been around, Aussems has had to work with a very young team mostly fished from their youth set up due to a prevailing FIFA transfer ban.

He has worked hard to keep the team competitive despite a lot of challenges, but it is this season that it appears the team has matured and ready to challenge for honors. The team has gone seven games without defeat in the FKFPL, and has only conceded once over the period.

In their last outing against hapless FC Talanta, Ingwe run riot, hammering the league strugglers 6-0 to move to top five in the log standings for the first time this season.
