
AFC Leopards go on spending spree in FKFPL transfer deadline day

FKF Premier league giants AFC Leopards were one of the most active sides on the transfer window deadline day, announcing six new signings including the highly-rated Tyson Otieno.
Prior to the final day of the window, Ingwe had announced the acquisition of three new players on Thursday, 4 September.
Not satisfied with their depth, the club broke the bank in a final hours and added more fresh blood into their unit.

Otieno was one of the most-sought after players in the market with several clubs linked to his signature .
However, Leopards did just enough to win the race for his signature.

The acquisition of Otieno by Leopards will spice up this season's Mashemeji Derby as Otieno’s younger brother, Austine Odhiambo turns out for Gor Mahia.
Leopards began the deadline day by announcing the signing of the 2024/25 National Super League (NSL) top scorer Ellias Mugane from Fortune Sacco on a two-year deal.
In what was clearly a busy day, the 1998 league champions followed by the signing of Brian Ojok from Soy United.
The former Zoo fc defender is well known for his attacking threat on the overlap that saw him score one goal and provided 17 assists in the Division One last season.
Ojok is set to replace former AFC Leopards assistant captain Lewis Bandi who crossed over to arch-rivals Gor Mahia.
In the other signing of the day, Leopards announced the acquisition of Uganda Cranes forward Samwel Ssenyonjo who joined from outfit Express FC.
Ssenyonjo signed a two-year contract with Leopards and will be tasked with leading the line and picking up from where he left last season, that saw him score 12 goals in the Ugandan league to finish fourth in the top scorers' chart.
The burden on the shoulders of the 24-year-old is enormous as he is expected to lead the line in Leopards bid to end their 28 year wait for a league title.
The former Uganda U 20 star will be keen to hit double figures in the league and better the five goals scored by the highest scoring striker in Ingwe last season.
Also joining on a two-year deal is Ivory Coast defender Rami Lasso Coulibaly, a left central defender who was signed from Moroccan club Chabab Alam Tanger.
According to Leopards, Coulibaly’s greatest strengths are anticipation, reading the play and aggressiveness.
Coulibaly is expected to compete for places with South Sudan international Peter Maker, Ken Owino and Randi Bakari for a starting berth in the team.
In order to add more punch to the flanks, Leopards completed the busy deadline day by securing the signature of highly rated James Kinyanjui who had a stellar performance in the 2024/25 league campaign.
“We are pleased to announce the signing of speedy winger James Kinyanjui from KCB FC after a stellar season that saw him score 5 goals with 14 assists, Kinyanjui joins us on a 2-year deal to bolster our attack,” Leopards announced in their Facebook account.
Apart from the six who were announced on Friday, 5 September, the three players announced a day earlier include Deng Kang, a lanky midfielder who was promoted from the youth team inking a three-year deal with the senior team.
Also joining from the youth team was attacking midfielder Jamal Obeid who was on loan at Soy United and put pen to paper on a three-year contract.
Additionally, Ingwe secured the services of Samuel Ambale Kushindi, a former ADF Youth goalkeeper who joined from Division 2 side Nashville FC.
