The Millers confirmed Musungu's exit through a statement on their official social media platforms, paying tribute to the defender's immense contribution during his time at the club.
"Robinson Musungu departs Mara Sugar FC as one of the club's most prolific and dependable defenders, leaving behind a legacy of commitment, resilience and outstanding performances in our colours.
Thank you for your dedication, hard work and the unforgettable memories you've given the Millers. Your contribution to the club will always be appreciated.
Everyone at Mara Sugar FC wishes you nothing but success in the next chapter of your career."
Musungu leaves the club after a breakthrough first season in the FKF-PL that firmly established him as one of the league's brightest young defenders.
The towering centre-back joined Mara Sugar from Vihiga United at the start of the 2025-2026 campaign and quickly nailed down a place in the heart of the club's defence.
His commanding displays played a key role as the Millers secured a 10th-place finish—the club's best league finish since earning promotion to the top flight in 2024.
His consistency throughout the season saw him earn third place defender of the Year award, with his performances attracting interest from several clubs before AFC Leopards moved to secure his signature.
The 21-year-old is now expected to begin a new chapter at the 12-time league champions as Ingwe continue strengthening their squad ahead of the new season.
Mara Sugar also confirmed the departure of left-back Owili, another defender who enjoyed an outstanding debut campaign in the top flight.
In announcing his exit, the club thanked the defender for his dedication and highlighted the remarkable impact he made in just one season.
"Jim Owili departs Mara Sugar FC, leaving behind unforgettable memories, unwavering commitment and outstanding performances in the Millers' colours.
34 matches played, nine assists, three goals and 14 clean sheets, and to top it all, being crowned Leagues Defender of the Season.
Thank you for your hard work, passion and dedication every time you stepped onto the pitch. Your contribution to the club will always be remembered and appreciated.
Everyone at Mara Sugar FC wishes you every success in the next chapter of your career."
Owili joined the Millers from Samwest Blackboots FC ahead of the 2025-2026 season and immediately established himself as the club's first-choice left-back.
The defender enjoyed a dream debut season, combining defensive solidity with attacking quality to register three goals and nine assists in 34 league appearances while helping the club keep 14 clean sheets.
His outstanding performances were rewarded with the FKF-PL Defender of the Season award, while he also walked away with Mara Sugar's Most Valuable Player accolade.
Mara Sugar's confirmation of his departure effectively signals his impending move to KCB, where he is expected to bolster the Bankers' defensive unit ahead of the new campaign.
The Millers could yet see another key player leave before the transfer window closes, with striker Timothy Ndayala reportedly closing in on a move to Kakamega Homeboyz.
