The left-back was making his third-straight appearance for his team after recovering from a lengthy injury
Harambee Stars defender Erick ‘Marcelo’ Ouma provided an assist as his Raków Częstochowa side fell 4-3 to Belgian opposition Zulte Waregem in a pre-season friendly match in Netherlands on Wednesday, 8 July.

Ouma, who skippered the team, created Rakow’s second goal in the 25th minute, when he crossed a ball for young forward Adam Basse, to poke in what was a first half equalizer.
Played as 60-minute game, Rakow were off to a poor start after going two goals down inside the first 17 minutes, thanks to a brace from Tobias Hedl.
Basse, however, found a way to halve the deficit in the 21st minute, when he slammed home from point-blank range, before connecting on a lovely ball from Ouma to draw his side level at the break.
But just like in the first half, Waregem were off to a brilliant start in the second period, scoring twice in three minutes to take control of the match.
Ghana forward Joseph Opoku was first on target in the 40th minute, before Marley Ake added his team’s fourth in the 43rd minute, to leave Rakow staring at a first friendly defeat this preseason.
It would take till virtually the last minute of play when Rakow found a consolation, this as Basse was quick to pounce on a rebound from another delightful cross from Ouma, who was plying on his usual left-back position.
Despite the defeat, Ouma’s goal contributions marked the latest signal of his steady and positive return to competitive action, after missing much of the 2025-2026 season with a ruptured Achilles ligament last year.
Ouma, who was out of the squad till mid-May, has so far been involved in all his side’s friendly games, making a start in all of them.
His first full-return to club football came on 27 June, when he played 90 minutes of Rakow’s 2-0 win over Piast Gliwice, before featuring in another 2-0 victory over Puszcza on Saturday, 4 July.
