Collins Shichenje is confident AFC Leopards will play in the Champions League next season.
AFC Leopards midfield maestro Collins Shichenje is assertive that the club will clinch the important CAF Champions League spot come June 30th.
Ingwe are currently joint top of the Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) standings as they are locked on 36 points with KCB but the Bankers are top by virtue of a superior goal difference.
Shichenje was unfortunate to receive his marching orders in the 1-0 win over Mathare United on Thursday as he was sent off for a second bookable offense.
The former Green Commandos midfielder is however adamant that Ingwe will stand a chance of representing Kenya in the CAF Champions League for the first time since 1999.
“We will be top because everybody is working hard and everyone is proving by giving their best on the field and by the end of 30th I assure fans that we will be top,”
“I think we really worked hard for the three points against Mathare United, we really want the title and everyone is pushing themselves to be top,” said Shichenje.
AFC Leopards have extended the services of attacker Elvis Rupia and defender Collins Shichenje by tying them down on 1-year contracts. Both players played a pivotal role last season as Ingwe finished 6th in the #KPL. #FFP #TransferZone pic.twitter.com/13UZIotoZy

AFC Leopards earned a ticket to represent Kenya in African’s elite club competition after winning the league back in 1998 but were eliminated at the Second Round by Rayon Sport.
No Kenyan club has made it to the Group Stages of the Champions League with Gor Mahia becoming the first club to make it to the Group Stages of the CAF Confederation Cup.
The midfielder who was reportedly close to joining Greek giants PAOK earlier in the year revealed that his foul on James Kinyanjui was a mistake.
“I apologized to my teammates after the red card, the foul was not intentional, I slid by mistake. I can say it was bad luck but we will continue to push,”
“We have a number of players and the ones that will get a chance in my absence will represent the team well, I will get another chance because I will only miss one game,” added Shichenje.
