FKF Premier League giants AFC Leopards players have sent a message of assurance to their fans after yet another season without a trophy.
The end of the 2024/25 season marked eight years without AFC Leopards winning a major trophy, with the last one being the Mozzart Bet Cup which they lifted in October 2017.

Furthermore, it marked the 27th year since Ingwe last won the FKF Premier League in 1998 when the current head coach, Fred Ambani was a striker and top scorer for the team.
With Leopards fans yearning for a trophy, those who spoke ahead of the Players' Awards Gala promised to bring that drought to an end next season as quoted by Citizen.
“We have not done well as players to reward the fans with a trophy, especially since this initiative started but we still appreciate these efforts and promise to at least bag a trophy next season,” said Ken Owino.
Owino’s sentiments were echoed by Ronald Sichenje, one of the team's top performers last season.
“These awards motivate us and give us a reason to work hard as we head into the new season so that at the end of the day, we get a reward.
We hope that we will present a trophy in the next gala to give us more reasons to celebrate,” said Sichenje.
On his part, Kayci Odhiambo acknowledged the team's under par performance over recent seasons, but appreciated the unwavering support from fans.
“We finished sixth on the log which is disappointing because fans expected a lot from us. We have started pre-season early enough and I hope we will do better.
These awards are a privilege that we get as Leopards players because not many clubs do it. To do it twice in a row motivates us to work harder.
I really thank the fans who have organized it. I know it is not a cheap venture and so from all the players, we say thank you,” he remarked.
Brian Wanyama joined Odhiambo in thanking the U45 Unit Branch, who are the organizers of the awards that will include awarding the Most Valuable Player of the Season, Fans’ Player of the Season and Players’ Player of the Season.
Other categories are Best Defender of the Season, Best Midfielder of the Season, Best Attacker of the Season, Best Goal of the Season, Best Female Fan of the Season, Best Male Fan of the Season, and Best Branch of the Season.
“We thank the U 45 Unit Branch for this gala because it gives us a motivation to work hard and aim for something as players,” said Wanyama.
