African duo smashes Van Nistelrooy's Foxes

Reading Time: 3min | Sat. 22.02.25. | 11:38

Former Manchester United striker is definitely not a savior

They just returned to the Premier League, but the chances of Leicester quickly going back to the Championship are increasing. It seems there is no salvation for them—at least not while Ruud van Nistelrooy is at the helm. The Dutch coach hinted at potential success with four points in his first two matches, but since then—over the past two and a half months—he has collected only three more points in total. Leicester is losing games like clockwork, and they suffered another defeat—their tenth in the last eleven league matches against Brentford. In the opening match of the 26th round of the English championship, the Bees defeated them 4-0 (2-0) on their home ground—one of the teams that, until recently, was considered a welcome guest across England. However Thomas Frank's team stepped onto King Power Stadium and left devastation behind, securing their fourth consecutive away victory which is the team‘s all time record in the league. And again they did it on the wings for their two powerful Africans.

Bryan Mbeumo scored a goal and assist, which raises his total to 15 goals and five assists in 30 games so far. The Cameroonian is scoring a goal in every second match, and he is not even proper striker! His ‘partner in crime‘ Yoane Wissa also scored against Leicester and his stats are almost the same: 13 goals in 27 games, along with two assists.

After just 32 minutes, the scoreboard read 3-0 for Brentford. Leicester started the match with more determination, Jamie Vardy had a few half-chances, but he lacked support from his teammates in attack. Once Yoane Wissa scored from Brentford’s first shot on target, Ruud van Nistelrooy's team completely fell apart. In the span of just fifteen minutes, the London team settled the match. Bryan Mbeumo doubled the lead with a stunning goal, then assisted Christian Nørgaard from a free kick for the third goal. Just before halftime, Kevin Schade had a chance to eliminate any doubt but hit the post with a header from about seven meters out. However, what he failed to do then, substitute Fabio Carvalho managed to do in the final moments of the match.
