The two teams played out to a barren draw at the Kasarani Stadium
Bidco United head coach Anthony Akhulia has lamented on his team’s wastefulness, which resulted to a barren draw against Posta Rangers on Sunday afternoon at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani.
The Elite Pre-season Cup winners had to settle for a point in a match in which, they rattled the upright twice and threw away a couple of clear-cut chances, an indication of their problems up front following the departure of striker Chris Ochieng, who was in great form in pre-season, to Gor Mahia.
In an interview, Akhulia expressed his disappointment at the number of opportunities that his team threw away while highlighting the need for his side to work more on their finishing at the training ground.
"We did everything right, bar scoring. I don’t think we’ve created as many chances before without converting a single of them, and it’s partly disappointing because it was the difference between us getting maximum points and one point today," the tactician told Mozzart Sport.
Akhulia had worked with Ochieng as his first-choice striker all pre-season before Gor snapped him up in the final week of the transfer window, leaving Akhulia grappling with the available options.
The tactician believes that his charges will eventually get it right.
"We just need to be patient. With attackers, you have to be patient and keep encouraging them until they get it right, and that is what we are going to do. There are positives to pick from the match against Posta; for example, we are creating many chances, and it is now about making them count. Last season, we did not create a lot of them, and so I think that is a positive that we can build on going forward," he said.
Next for United is a match against Nairobi City Stars, and Akhulia hopes that they can get the job done against Simba Wa Nairobi.
"It is important to start the season positively, and we will try to get the maximum points against the City Stars. It is definitely not going to be easy because there are not easy games at this level, but we are going to do our best to try and win," he added.
