The 2023-2024 season is scheduled to kick off on August 28.
Despite laying hands on the second edition of the Elite Pre-season Cup title, Bidco United head coach Anthony Akhulia maintains that there are areas his side has to polish on before the new season kicks off.
Bidco downed Kariobangi Sharks 2-1 to toast the title on Friday at the Kasarani Annex, giving the side much of the needed confidence to confront teams in the new season manfully.
A first half penalty conversion from Chris Ochieng and a late own goal by Stephen Biko were enough to seal the Elite Cup for Bidco. Sharks got their sole goal through Congolese forward Donald Ange.
Akhulia revealed that he was not fully convinced with the manner in which the team handled the transitions in the tournament and its inability to score from the spells of dominance and possession.
The 2023-2024 season is scheduled to kick off on August 28.
“We have to work on our transitions which were all slow. Our possession doesn’t count much as anticipated,” said the CAF B coaching course license holder.
The tactician might have been left unimpressed with the grey areas but the performance of the new arsenals certainly, gave him something to smile about.
Bidco were in a class of their own in the tournament as they won all the matches played and concede a single goal.
The showpiece gave the gaffer a chance to asses the new players and try out different formations before the start of the new term.
Some of the new boys including Ochieng who scored three goals in the tournament, gave an assuring performance.
“We have a good team, looking at the players who scored in the final and how we conducted ourselves in the tournament, it is safe to conclude that we recruited well. I am happy to see our new players doing well,” he added.
