"We will not waste any more time on this. We want to develop, the Super League is a joke today," says the Qatari businessman

The first man of Paris Saint-Germain, Nasser Al-Khelaifi, was unanimously re-elected as the first man of the European Club Association (ECA), and he spoke extensively about the current topics in an interview with the Polish portal Meczyki.

Al-Khelaifi put an end to the Super League, which he believes was dead even before the topic came up, and that the stories about it today sound like some joke. The Saints boss said he met with Barcelona president Joan Laporta, as well as with people from Real Madrid, to whom he gave the same message.

"The clubs themselves know that I never mention their names, not even in the boardroom in a more private setting. I always tell them and advise them that they can come back to the ECA at any time. Join the family. They are welcome. Juventus have already retired from the Superliga project. And they should do the same. They have no choice. I'm not against Barcelona or Real Madrid. I'm not going to exclude anyone. I'm against conflicts and fights. I met with Laporta and told him the same. If they want to fight, let them fight each other. We will not waste any more time on this. We have our own things to do. We want to develop, the Super League is a joke today. It was dead before it was announced," said Al-Khelaifi.

He believes that UEFA is doing a great job under Alexander Ceferin.

"The fact is - we are as unified as ever. They wanted to divide us, but it was the other way around. Thanks to this, we can achieve revolutionary things. At dinner on Wednesday, I told my board members that it feels like a family gathering. We are working for the collective good and many of us could have chosen differently. UEFA has done an excellent job by stopping the Super League. In this sense, we must also acknowledge the contribution of Alexander Ceferin," he added.

The Qatari businessman spoke about Kylian Mbappe, although he did not provide details regarding the possible renewal of the French team captain's contract.

"Kylian Mbappe is a PSG player. He loves this club. He is a fantastic player. The best in the world. We are happy to have him and we will have him."

Al-Khelaifi is open to the possibility of the Champions League one day moving to Asia, the United States or anywhere outside of Europe.

"It is something that UEFA should pay attention to. At the moment, the regulations and statutes do not allow us to do that. UEFA is open to dialogue. We have to think about this. Why not? I think Europe is safe in that sense," Al-Khelaifi added.
