Ugandan defender risks being locked out of the qualifiers
Tusker FC central defender Rodgers Aloro is worried that the suspension of sporting activities will slice down his chances of returning to the Uganda national team ahead of the forthcoming World Cup qualifiers.
With the qualifiers just a month away, Aloro fears that the ban imposed on sporting activities by the Kenyan government as a way of containing the spread of Coronavirus is working against his plan to grace the qualifiers especially the opener against Kenya.
Uganda who will begin their qualification campaign against Harambee Stars are placed in pool E which also has neighbours Rwanda and Mali.
The former Sofapaka defender who last donned in the Cranes shirt during the 2014 Chan qualifiers said his performances in the Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) had left him convinced that the Cranes technical bench would consider him.

"When the season began, I had a plan to help Tusker win titles and force my way back to the national team for the World Cup qualifiers. I was on course to achieve both but the latter looks uncertain following the suspension of sporting activities here," he rued
Despite the unwanted break, Aloro who believes that the door to the national team was wide open to local and African based players by virtue of the opponents in the group maintained that he had not completely lost hope in nailing a place in the team.
"We have been pooled against familiar opponents in the group. Players who ply their trade in the Ugandan league and in the continent have a lot to offer in the qualifiers for they have played with or against the majority of our opponents in the pool. I still believe there is a minimal chance of being considered," he said.
Meanwhile, the former KCCA defender disclosed his plan of doubling the number of assists he had managed in the first leg when the league resumes.

Aloro who regretted that a red card given against Kariobangi Sharks in January had disrupted his intention of clocking full minutes in all league matches and register as many assists as he could say he was sharpening his freekick skills for the time football is on a break.
"I wanted to play at least all our league matches but unfortunately received marching orders in January. Ever since, I have not had sufficient playing time but I believe when the ban will be lifted I will walk back to the starting team. Before the card, I had two assists and I am looking forward to grabbing many more in the second leg," he added.
