Aloro tips Tusker to whip Wazito

Tusker will be looking to complete a league double over Wazito who they beat 1-0 in the first leg.

Tusker FC defender Rodgers Aloro has tipped his log leading side to overcome the challenge posed by a Francis Kimanzi-led Wazito FC as the quest for a continental place in the CAF Champions League heats up in the Football Kenya Federation Premier League.

The two teams meet on Friday afternoon at the Utalii Grounds in what is arguably the highlight fixture of the FKFPL this week.

Since taking top spot in February, the Brewers have been cruising at the top of the table. But that position is not guaranteed anymore as only three points separate them from fourth placed Kariobangi Sharks. Besides that, the Robert Matano side could lose their position at the top of the table should AFC Leopards win their one match in hand as Ingwe sit third, two points behind.

Those permutations notwithstanding, Uganda defender Aloro has backed his side to do a league double over Wazito who they face in the opening round of matchday 18 tomorrow.

“We won in the first leg against them so we have the belief that we can do so again. We know we ought to step up and in the game we need to be calmer than them in front of the goal. We also need to be clinical and put more impetus to the speed we use in attacking the other team’s defense and by doing that, we shall overcome,” he said in an interview.

Having stayed at the top of the table for months before the league was halted due to a presidential directive, Aloro also backed his team’s mental fortitude to carry them through the battle against Wazito who lost their league restart match against Sofapaka.

“We believe that with the strong mentality we have in the team and the fact that we have been at the top of the table for a while, we will know how to handle this kind of pressure as players and the coaching unit as well,” he added.

The clash takes place at Utalii Grounds tomorrow at 1500EAT.
