African winger didn’t hesitate to get into a post-match exchange with rival supporters after the win, even taking a cheeky swipe at Arsenal themselves
Amad Diallo couldn’t resist a dig at Arsenal after Manchester United edged out the Gunners on Sunday, joking that set pieces are their “only hope” of finding the net.
United continued their perfect start under Michael Carrick with a dramatic 3–2 win at the Emirates, making it two victories from two since the new era began. Diallo was heavily involved, operating on the right flank for 88 minutes as the Red Devils handed the league leaders a rare defeat.
Arsenal’s attacking balance has come under increasing scrutiny. While their 42 league goals remain the second-best tally in the division behind Manchester City, individual attackers have struggled to consistently make the difference. Instead, Mikel Arteta’s side have leaned heavily on dead-ball situations, racking up an eye-catching 26 goals from set pieces this season — the highest total across Europe’s top five leagues.
Diallo was quick to highlight that stat online after the final whistle. Replying to a Arsenal supporter on X, he wrote: "Your only hope is corner," adding a laughing emoji. He followed it up with another post, saying "Be humble KID," alongside a ‘be quiet’ emoji.
The Ivory Coast international also revisited a pre-match boast from the same fan, who had confidently claimed: “Arsenal are winning 4-0 they just sent me the script.” Diallo quote-posted it after full time with an image of the 3–2 scoreline and the caption: "Enjoy KID," finished off with a winking emoji.

On the pitch, Diallo’s influence under Carrick continues to grow. He also started last weekend’s derby win over Manchester City, completing the full 90 minutes. Despite expectations that his opportunities might be limited — given Bryan Mbeumo’s preference for the right wing — Carrick has reshuffled his attack. Mbeumo has been deployed centrally as a No.9 ahead of Benjamin Sesko, opening the door for Diallo, fresh from Africa Cup of Nations duty, to cement his place out wide.
