Kinyanjui, who joined Leopards from KCB FC, scored his first goal for the club in the victory that lifted Leopards to third place in the FKF Premier League table with 12 points after six matches.
The result also maintained their unbeaten start to the season, a clear reflection of the progress Ambani’s side has made in recent weeks after coming under fire.
Speaking to Azam TV after the match, Ambani praised his players’ discipline and commitment, noting that patience and teamwork have been central to the team’s early-season momentum.
“They executed all my instructions. I am happy. The boys are working well, and we are making progress,” Ambani said.
“Progress is important, and if you are not patient, you will just be creating unnecessary pressure. 12 points are a fantastic achievement so far.”
Beyond his goal-scoring contribution, Kinyanjui’s presence has brought a new dimension to the Leopards’ attack.
The winger who has made five appearances for the Leopards this campaign has injected creativity, pace, and composure into the team’s forward play.
Ambani singled out the 25-year-old’s intelligence and delivery from set-pieces as qualities that have been pivotal in shaping Leopards’ attacking rhythm.
“Kinyanjui was a crucial addition. Having a player like that in your squad is a blessing,” Ambani continued.
"Aside from scoring, he has been instrumental in bringing one or two things that have been crucial to us winning.
I wish him luck for the rest of the season, but I must say everyone is also doing well and working hard; he’s been a fantastic addition to the squad.”
Leopards’ win over Mathare came courtesy of goals from Kinyanjui and Victor Omune, whose second-half strike sealed all three points for the 12-time league champions.
Under Ambani, Ingwe appear to have rediscovered their identity of being solid in defence, creative in attack, and united in purpose.
The team now sits just behind Gor Mahia and Kakamega Homeboyz on the league table, and with their unbeaten record intact, Leopards have signalled serious intent to challenge for the FKF Premier League title this season.
