The Italian midfielder will miss Italy's crucial qualifier against Ukraine and is questionable for Newcastle's game at AC Milan

If you're gone, you're gone! Lifelong AC Milan fan Sandro Tonali left the Rossoneri to join Newcastle United in the recently closed transfer window - and now there seems to be a force keeping him from returning to San Siro.

The midfielder was supposed to appear in two fixtures at the legendary venue - one with the national team and the other, even more intriguing, in Newcastle's colours against his former team in the UEFA Champions League. However, he'll miss at least one of those games.

Tonali was not included in Italy coach Luciano Spalletti's squad for the Euro 2024 qualifying match against Ukraine - a game Italy must win after their disappointing draw at Macedonia over the weekend. He underwent a medical examination at the Columbus Clinic in Milan on Monday, and the results revealed muscle fatigue. Newcastle has been informed about his condition. The Magpies are scheduled to travel to Italy for their Champions League match against Milan next week.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Tonali's injury will be assessed by Newcastle once he returns to England. Still, it is unclear whether he will be available for the upcoming meeting with his beloved Milan.
