Liverpool tear apart Galatasaray (4-0) to reach the Champions League quarter-final after another magical night at the historic venue

There's something magical about that place!

Not only are you not safe if you're coming there as an enemy, but there's a good chance you'll end up bruised and battered.

No, not talking about Camp Nou right now - although that venue is special for the same reasons - but about Anfield.

The home of Liverpool, where the Reds tore apart Galatasaray on Wednesday night, 4-0, to progress to the Champions League quarter-final (4-1 on aggregate)!

Despite trailing after the first leg in Istanbul (0-1), and a sluggish performance in the Turkish capital, Arne Slot's men resurrected at their home ground. And did it in sensational fashion.

Led by mesmerising Dominik Szoboszlai, the Scousers pressed straight from the start, making sure the visitors get the message very early on - you're not leaving this place "alive"!

After months of struggle and below-par performances, Liverpool were finally fluid, straightforward and dominant. Almost, like never before this season.

The Hungarian mastermind opened the scoring with a lovely shot, coming from a well-executed set-piece action, 1-0.

Some twenty minutes later, in the dying moments of the first half, he was taken down in the rival's box for a rightfully called penalty, but Mohamed Salah's effort was as bad as it gets, which resulted in a routine save.

The Egyptian seemed to be struggling with his form, but the second half - similar to Barcelona's one against Newcastle earlier that same night - was the complete opposite, a true spectacle and a moment for Salah's deserved rebirth.

On the other end, Victor Osimhen didn't leave the locker room after the break, as he suffered a hand injury in the first half, which prevented him from making any impact on this important match, as he did last week.

Salah made up for missing the penalty as he got the ball from Alexis Mac Allister wide right. The African veteran used the opportunity to play a lovely ball across the face of the goal for Hugo Ekitike, whose tap-in made it 2-0.

And all of a sudden, you could feel that's it - no one is returning from that, despite just 2-1 on aggregate for Liverpool at that moment.

The hosts were flying high, with Gravenberch sealing the deal with another goal, only a minute later, 3-0.

Soon it was 4-0, but that one was rightfully voided for an offside in the buildup, as the Reds were adamant about making this night truly memorable. They kept pushing, and Salah made definite amends with a mouth-watering piece into the far corner, 4-0.

In truth, it could have been much, much worse for Galatasaray if it weren't for their excellent keeper, Ugurcan Cakir, who made ten saves! As you can see, the Turks stood no chance whatsoever. The next one on Liverpool's road - Paris Saint-Germain.
