Former Gor Mahia defender Michael Apudo explained why he left K'Ogalo to join Posta Rangers.

After enduring a torrid time at Gor Mahia, Michael Apudo has opened up to why he ditched the reigning champions to secure a move back to Posta Rangers in the January transfer window.

The left-back showed promise in his early spell at Gor Mahia but fell off the pecking order at K’Ogalo after uninspiring performances at the start of the campaign.

Apudo decided to return to his old stomping yard to rediscover the form that earned him a move to Gor Mahia back in January 2020.

Speaking to Mozzart Sport, Apudo revealed why he opted to resign for Posta Ranger after a brief one-year stint with K’Ogalo.

“I left Gor because there are many issues at the club but my real reason was because of payment but otherwise, everything was okay.”

“The other thing was that there were many full-backs at the club which made it hard for me to play regularly and I felt I had a chance to play here and build my career here,” explained Apudo.

The left-back opted to join Bernard Ondiek who also left Gor Mahia in January to join Posta as part of seven players including Bertrand Konfor, Dickson Raila, Andrew Malisero and Levis Opiyo who left the club.

Apudo was skinned by the fans after his below-par performance in the 6-0 drubbing at the hands of CR Belouizdad in the Champions League First Round clash but he pegged his poor performance on ill preparations.

“After that Algerian game there was a lot of talk about my performance but I do not really dwell on what goes on social media, that was a difficult game because of the poor preparations.”

"Gor has given me some experience because you get to play continental matches and when you play at that level there is something you learn," added the left-back.

The former Sony Sugar defender got one better of Gor Mahia on Wednesday after Posta Rangers piled misery on K’Ogalo with their sixth defeat of the season.
