The wait is over — after 22 years, the Gunners will lift the trophy, with Bournemouth helping them by tripping up Manchester City in a 1–1 draw

North London celebrates as Arsenal are Premier League champions after 22 years! The wait is over — after more than two decades, the Gunners’ captain will lift the trophy next week, with Bournemouth putting the final stamp on Arsenal’s remarkable season by drawing 1–1 with Manchester City. Arsenal fans, enjoy it!

City created the first major opportunity of the match in the fifth minute. Antoine Semenyo broke down the right flank before cutting the ball back to Jeremy Doku, whose powerful effort forced Djordje Petrovic into an important save to keep Bournemouth level.

The visitors thought they had taken the lead in the 12th minute when Semenyo finished calmly after being played through by Haaland, but celebrations were quickly cut short as the assistant referee raised the flag for offside.

Bournemouth responded with a huge chance of their own three minutes later. Tavernier delivered an excellent low cross into the six-yard box, where Evanilson arrived almost unmarked, but the striker somehow failed to hit the target from close range.

City continued to push forward and nearly caused problems again in the 27th minute when Doku’s dangerous delivery from the left side deflected off a Bournemouth defender and narrowly avoided troubling Petrovic before going out for a corner.

Just a minute later, Guardiola’s side came close once more following a chaotic sequence inside the penalty area. The ball eventually fell kindly for Haaland, but the Norwegian’s shot was blocked at the very last moment before he could truly test the goalkeeper.

Despite City’s pressure, it was Bournemouth who struck first in the 39th minute. Tavernier launched a long pass down the flank to Adrien Truffert, who surged forward on the left before pulling the ball back into the middle. Kroupi timed his run perfectly and finished brilliantly to spark huge celebrations at the Vitality Stadium and give Bournemouth a 1-0 lead.

The hosts almost doubled their advantage immediately after the restart from kick-off. Following a defensive mistake from Manchester City, Kroupi found himself in another dangerous position, but Marc Guehi reacted superbly with a last-ditch intervention to prevent further damage for the visitors.

City started the second half strongly and created a big opportunity just a minute after the restart in the 46th minute. O’Reilly found himself in a promising position after a well-worked move involving Semenyo and Haaland, but Djordje Petrovic produced an excellent save to keep Bournemouth in front.

The hosts quickly responded and looked dangerous again in the 52nd minute. Evanilson received the ball inside the box from the left side and struck it well from around 11 metres, but Gianluigi Donnarumma reacted superbly to deny him with a strong save.

Bournemouth continued to threaten and came close again in the 61st minute. Truffert broke down the left flank and set up Evanilson, who flicked the ball towards Kroupi with a clever backheel, but the young forward fired over the crossbar from a good position.

Just a minute later, Bournemouth almost doubled their lead. After a corner kick, the ball dropped inside the six-yard box to Rayan, who only needed to finish from close range, but instead he struck the woodwork in a huge miss for the home side.

Bournemouth remained the more dangerous side and created another good chance in the 69th minute. Rayan once again made progress down the right and attempted to deliver into the box, but O’Reilly got a slight touch on the ball. It nearly wrong-footed Donnarumma, but the Italian goalkeeper reacted well to prevent an own goal or a dangerous deflection.

In the 89th minute, Brooks had a great chance to finish the game, finding himself one-on-one inside the box with Donnarumma and an opportunity to seal the match. However, the Italian goalkeeper dealt with it calmly, and the Bournemouth player also failed to strike the ball cleanly.

A minute later, the same player was presented with another golden opportunity when he was again through on goal against Donnarumma, but this time his effort hit the post.

Manchester City gave both their own fans and Arsenal supporters a scare when, in a scramble deep into stoppage time, Halland managed to win the ball, fire a shot from the edge of the box, and beat Petrovic to make it 1–1 on the scoreboard.

In this way, Bournemouth secured their first-ever qualification for European football, guaranteeing a place in the Europa League, with a chance to reach the Champions League still alive — although that would require a miracle. Even more importantly, this point for Bournemouth is golden for Arsenal, who are now the new champions of England!
