A player who came through all levels of Arsenal’s academy and became a regular under Mikel Arteta has signed a contract extension with the Gunners until 2030

Myles Lewis-Skelly has committed his future to Arsenal by putting pen to paper on a new long-term contract, promising to "keep staying humble" as he continues his rise at the club.

According to Sky Sports News, the versatile defender has signed a five-year deal that will keep him at the Emirates until the summer of 2030. Still just 18, Lewis-Skelly made a major impression last season after breaking into Mikel Arteta’s first team in December—despite having originally developed as a midfielder in the club’s academy.

Making 39 appearances in total, he marked a milestone moment in February with his first goal for the Gunners during a 5-1 thrashing of Manchester City, where he cheekily mimicked Erling Haaland’s celebration—a nod to the Norwegian’s earlier jab telling Arteta to "stay humble" during the September clash. His momentum carried over to the international stage, where he became the youngest player ever to score on his England debut in a 2-0 win over Albania in March.

"I'm so proud and happy," he told Arsenal.com. "I know those words are simple, but I think they sum up how I feel signing for this club. I'm a fan and it's like a dream come true. I know I've taken a lot of experience from the games about the positive moments, the mistakes that I've made. I'm definitely more ready now for the next season. I just want to keep learning and keep improving."

Arteta’s decision to shift him into a left-back role has paid off handsomely. Lewis-Skelly quickly rose up the ranks, overtaking Riccardo Calafiori and others in the pecking order, and his breakout year was capped with a nomination for the PFA Young Player of the Year award, where he featured alongside fellow Hale End talent Ethan Nwaneri.

His contract renewal follows shortly after that of centre-back Gabriel, who extended his stay until 2029. Arsenal are now turning their attention to securing Nwaneri’s future with the club as well.
