Since signing for the club back in February, Asieche has struggled with injury, but the midfielder hopes to repay the trust and patience shown in him

Wazito FC midfielder Elli Asieche has vowed to prove his mettle on the pitch once the anticipated 2020/2021 Football Kenya Federation Premier League kicks off this weekend owing to the patience the club has shown him in his brief spell at the club.

Since being signed by the Ricardo Badoer- funded side back in February, Asieche has had to endure a stop-start spell at the club mostly after being plagued by a niggling knee injury that has kept him from the pitch.

The former Sofapaka captain has now fully recovered from his injury troubles and is hoping to repay the great care and patience that the club has accorded him during his rehabilitation period.

“Apart from the injury that made me miss most games, my stay at the club has not been difficult. Wazito has been very supportive during the recovery and rehabilitation period and I hope I will repay that patience with good performances on the ground,” he revealed to Mozzart Sport.

The sporting suspension issued back in March 26 also went some way in aiding Asieche’s recovery from injury and the midfielder says should the league resume according to the dates set by Football Kenya Federation, he is ready to start working.

“Before President Uhuru Kenyatta issued the measures, I had already started training with my teammates. Right now, if the league resumes, I am able to play if given a chance,” he added.

Currently, Wazito sits 6th in the 2020/2021 season on 25 points, eleven adrift of log leading Tusker. When the league resumes this weekend, the Francis Kimanzi-led side travel all the way to Wundanyi Stadium in Taita to take on Sofapaka in a Saturday afternoon league match.
