RB Leipzig's coach Marco Rose is not pulling any punches regarding FIFA's decision to organize the 2030 WC in six countries
The news that the 2030 FIFA World Cup will be jointly organized by Spain, Portugal and Morocco - with the inaugural three games to be played in Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay - attracted a lot of attention around the world. And quite a few words of criticism.
Among those who feel the football's global organization is hurting the game with such decisions is RB Leipzig's gaffer Marco Rose.
Talking about the subject, Rose said he's got a lot of questions.
"I'm also very surprised. But my first thought was what I always say about a lot of things. We tighten and tighten the screw. We find new things, something special here, something different there. And at some point, we will play on Mount Everest because we can create a playing field there and market it," the witty German manager said, before adding:
"The period when a country could look forward to organizing a World Cup, or even two, was very good. Austria and Germany hosted the Euro. We could celebrate that, it was easy to organize it. There were short paths, which probably won't happen again. It seems that we are not at the end of this spiral. And I think that's a shame, even stupid," concluded Rose.
