The Brewers lost to K'Ogalo on Wednesday afternoon

A late Benson Omala penalty ensured a bullish Gor Mahia picked maximum points against Nairobi rivals Tusker FC in the Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) midweek fixture at Kasarani on Wednesday afternoon.

Sydney Ochieng broke the ice at the half hour mark, catching the Brewers defense napping from a quick restart, before firing past goalkeeper Patrick Matasi.

Shami Mwinyi leveled for the visitors seven minutes into the second half with a neat free kick from outside the box, but the afternoon belonged to K'Ogalo, who picked the later winner.

Yet, as the Green Army celebrated, the Brewers went home disgruntled, with the club pointing fingers at the referee.

In a series of tweets, the 12-time champions questioned not only took issue with Omalla's penalty, which took his goals' tally to 12 this season, but also the awarded foul that resulted in Sydney's first strike.

The loss stretched Tusker's winless streak to four games, leaving them gasping for breath in what is shaping up as a fierce battle for this season's FKFPL title.

Tusker, who topped the standings in the earlier exchanges of the league, are now six points off surprise package and leaders Nzoia Sugar FC.

Meanwhile, Gor Mahia are just a point shy of the Millers with 30 points. The record Kenyan champions have won four of their last five games.

Under Irish coach Johnathan McKinstry, K'Ogalo have remained consistent, conceding just five times in 14 games played so far, the best defensive record so far. This despite having a lean squad of just 23 players.
