Crystal Palace's player required surgery for the injury on his left ear due to the severity of the wound
We were left speechless following that vicious tackle on Jean-Philippe Mateta by Millwall's keeper Liam Roberts in the FA Cup clash on Saturday afternoon.
One of the most brutal tackles we've seen in the last few decades resulted in Mateta's severe injury. The Frenchman was taken off the pitch on a stretcher.

The 27-year-old required respiratory assistance at Selhurst Park before being promptly escorted to hospital for the injury on his left ear. As per British media, the surgery saw Mateta receive 25 stitches to close the wound.
Thankfully, Mateta is feeling better now but will probably be sidelined for longer. Liam Roberts was sent off for that reckless challenge, but it is still unknown how many games he'll be banned for one of the most horrific tackles in the FA Cup's history.
