Retired Kenyan international Jockins Atudo has challenged former players to consider enrolling for the subsequent coaching courses rolled out by Football Kenya Federation.

Atudo who announced his retirement from active football in March is among the forty-three aspiring coaches who registered for the ten-day Confederation of African Football (CAF) level D coaching course which kicked off on Monday at the Ligi Ndogo grounds.

The former defender said the course is conducted by George Mwangi and Leon Mathews will complement the skills he had gained while active.

Even though I have gathered experience from the years I have played, it is important to get trained. I encourage other former players to register for the next phase of the training,” he said.

Similarly, former Stars defender James Situma who doubles up as the Kenya Footballers Welfare Association (KEFWA) chairperson called on retired players to continue serving the game through transitioning into coaching.

It is important for former players to be remain in the game through coaching. I laud FKF for organizing the course which will go a long way in helping the players understand the game more. Learning never stops,” said the former Tusker captain.

FKF Chief Executive Officer Barry Otieno who was present during the opening ceremony observed that the course will raise the standards of the trade in the country.

As per our vision, we aim to ensure capacity building of all our coaches so they may transfer their acquired knowledge to their players and hence raise the standards of football in the country,” he said.
