Murang'a Seal striker Batts Awita intends to build on his week one heroics and achieve his targets in the 2023-2024 Football Kenya Federation Premier League season.
Awita had a dream start of life at Seal as he netted the match-winning goal against Shabana last Sunday at the Raila Odinga Stadium in Homabay.
He struck a beauty of a goal in stoppage time to hand Seal maximum points at the expense of the home side who were enjoying solid support from the thousands of fans who had traveled to back them.
The forward joined Seal two months ago from Bidco United and got off the books fast, coming off the bench to become one of the seven players who scored in round one.
Speaking to Mozzart Sport, he says the confidence he gained from scoring in day one will help him reach his target of hitting more than ten goals this season and for the first time in the top flight.
"It was one of the best moments in my career. Coming off the bench and scoring late in the game to get the team three points was quite something. I want to build on that and see if I'll reach the ten-goal mark," said Awita.
The former Bungoma Superstars striker encouraged his teammates to keep the focus and achieve a respectable finish at the end of the season.
Seal were promoted after finishing second in the past National Super League season behind Shabana who were crowned champions.
The team reached the round of sixteen in the Mozzart Bet Cup which was won by Kakamega Homeboyz.
"I urge the rest of us to keep on training hard and focus on having a good season together. It is possible to finish in the top half,” he offered.
Before joining Bidco, Awita played for Nzoia Sugar as well as Migori Youth and the defunct Isebania in the second tier.
Seal will host the wounded Homeboyz this weekend in round two.
The visiting team will be playing in the league season for the first time as their last week's clash against KCB was rescheduled due to continental engagements.
