Ayub Timbe will have a second shot at winning his maiden Vissel Kobe player of the month.

Kenyan international Ayub Timbe will come up against former Arsenal and Barcelona defender Thomas Vermaelen in the Vissel Kobe May Player of the Month.

Also in contention for the monthly gong is Hotari Yamaguchi and veteran Brazilian Douglas who scored a goal in the 1-1 draw against Sagan Tosu last time out.

Timbe had an impressive month, breaking his 21-month goal drought by bagging a brace against Tokushima Vortis in the Japanese Levain Cup.

The 28-year-old also chipped in with an assist this month in the 1-1 draw against Cerezo Osaka, setting up Vermaelen with a 96th-minute equalizer.

Timbe was delighted to have earned the nomination to the gong as he took to his Facebook page to rally fans to vote for him.

“Happy to be in the nominees for player of the month.. go to my Instagram to vote. I'll have the link in my bio,” he wrote.

Fans wishing to vote for Timbe can head to the Vissel Kobe official website and click on his jersey number (40) then submit the vote.

This is the second time that the former Reading FC winger has been nominated for the gong after he was also included in the April nominees but failed to win it.
