Rodri's successor will be revealed on September 22. Palmer, Dembele, Yamal and Salah are among the top contenders

The nominees for the 2025 Ballon d'Or have been revealed today. The list of 30 names includes the world's most exquisite players. Champions League winners Paris Saint-Germain are represented by as many as nine players: Gianluigi Donnarumma, Achraf Hakimi, Ousmane Dembele, Desire Doue, Joao Neves, Vitinha, Nuno Mendes, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Fabian Ruiz.

In addition to PSG camaraderie, contenders for the prestigious award are Barcelona's Lamine Yamal and Raphinha, Liverpool's Mohamed Salah (whose teammate Virgil van Dijk is also included), and Chelsea's Cole Palmer.

One of the biggest surprises on the list is probably Napoli's Scott McTominay, after guiding the Neapolitans to the Scudetto. Real Madrid's Kylian Mbappe, Jude Bellingham and Vinicius Junior are again among the nominees (Bellingham finished third and Vinicius runner-up last year), unlike the previous winner Rodri, whose season was ruined with a horrible injury.

Interestingly, Manchester United's Bruno Fernandes was snubbed for the final cut, and predictably, Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi were also left out.
