Former Sofapaka forward Umaru Kasumba is being chased by Bandari to bolster their attack line.
Bandari are keen on signing former Sofapaka striker Umaru Kasumba. Impeccable sources at the club indicate that the Ugandan forward is likely to pen a deal with The Dockers in the course of the week.
Kasumba was among the selected fans who followed the clash pitting Bandari and AFC Leopards last week at the Mbaraki Stadium where a brace from William Wadri sunk the visiting Ingwe.
Bandari have this season struggled to win matches convincingly thanks to lack of a prolific striker but with the transfer window open, the club opted to bring the former Zesco United back into the Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL).
"Negotiations between us and Kasumba are at an advanced stage and he is likely to join by the end of the week. We have been looking for a proven goal scorer and I am glad we have nailed down one," said a source who sought anonymity
Kasumba has been a free agent from January last year since leaving the Ndola based club. Kasumba had joined the former Zambian champions in July 2019 after ditching Batoto Ba Mungu.
With the arrival of Kasumba, almost a sure bet, Bandari head coach Andre Mbungo will in the meantime be looking for a defensive midfielder before the window closes.
The club has been relying on the experienced Felly Mulumba, a central defender in the department from the time he returned to the Coastal club but Mbungo says he is in the hunt for a natural midfielder. The Rwandese gaffer will also be keen to ship in a full-back left to supplement Siraj Mohammed.
"We are hoping to sign a central midfielder and a left-back before the end of the month. We only have one left-back and should anything happen to him, then we will in trouble," revealed the former Leopards coach.
