The player has been out since October last year

Bandari attacking midfielder Mohamed Abeid can’t wait to play at the competitive level again after shaking off a career-threatening injury that kept him out of action since October last year.

Abeid, tore his Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) while in action against the Kenya Ports Authority football team that was gearing up for last year’s KECOSO Games held in Kericho.

He subsequently went under the knife at the Aga Khan Hospital in Mombasa to repair the torn knee ligament.

The injury struck at a time when Abeid was looking forward to his first full season with Bandari after his terms were upgraded from a loan to a permanent deal.

Abeid, first joined Bandari in the second leg of the 2021–2022 season from National Super League side Coastal Heroes.

Having trained with the team during the pre-season and secured a clean bill of health from the medical department given his performances in the off-season sessions, Abeid, is now focused on getting minutes at the competitive level.

“I am ready for action after close to a year out. I trained with the team in the pre-season, and I feel my fitness levels are good. I am working hard to regain my place in the first team,” said the player, who, is commonly known as Mudiga.

Meanwhile, the former Ziwani Youth midfielder is grateful to the Bandari fraternity for supporting him from the time he picked up the injury.

I couldn’t have asked for better treatment from the club and colleagues,” he said.

With Abeid available for selection, the technical bench remains with Boniface Mwangemi to worry about as the left back is yet to recover from a knee injury.

The former national U20 and 23 team’s defender went under the knife in May.

Mwangemi joined Bandari in September 2021 from Kariobangi Sharks but has played few minutes this season due to stiff competition and the injury.
