Bayern humiliate Bochum, Mane scores a brace

Reading Time: 3min | Sun. 21.08.22. | 20:23

The Senegalese captain scored two goals in a 7-0 thrashing

In February 2022, Bochum was hosting Bayern Munich and within 9 minutes, it was 0-1 for the Bavarians. But then a miracle happened – the home team scored 4 goals in 30 minutes and ended up with a sensational 4-2 win. But, that was a one-time miracle as the Bavarians won 7-0 in Munich and then came back to Bochum this season to win with the same score.

It's not that the Bavarians wanted to humiliate the opponent, it’s just that they were far more superior than their opponents and basically created chances as soon as they crossed the opponent’s half. Even when they turned down the tempo in the second half, goals just kept coming. The Bavarians scored from all directions and from all possible actions: direct play, penalty, own goal…

Coach Julian Nagelsmann decided to change the personnel and formation for this duel, but also chose to change his outfit and stood out with his fashion choice for this match. Jamal Musiala had a hip problem and it was the chance for Koman and Leroy Sane to come into the starting 11, while Gnabry moved to the bench. And the trio of Coman, Sane and Mane was lighting fast and frightening for any opponent, yet alone for the relegation strugglers Bochum. The trio just did what they wanted and this time, there was no chance of any miracle for Bochum.

Sadio Mane played another great game and finished it with two goals, plenty of chances and one nullified goal due to handball. The Senegalese captain will be a great reinforcement for the Bavarians and he proved that in every single game so far. This high-scoring result was a great opportunity for coach Nagelsmann to try out his new signings, so De Ligt started the match from the first minute (and scored), while Mazraoui and Gravenberch were introduced in the last 30 minutes of the match.
