In a not-so-exciting match in the German capital, Union Berlin and Bayern Munich played to a 1-1 draw

In a better second half, but still not a great performance, Bayern Munich took the lead through Sane, but Hollerbach equalized to make it 1-1.

Much ado about nothing—that’s how we can sum up the first half of the match between Union Berlin and Bayern Munich. The visitors, as favorites, had over 80% possession but without any serious threats to the hosts.

The first chance of the match came from Dayot Upamecano, who fired a sharp shot from the edge of the box, but the goalkeeper was lucky as the ball whizzed just a few centimeters over the goal.

On the other side, in the 15th minute, Khedira had a chance when he powered a header inside the box, but he wasn’t even close to the goal. The ball went several meters wide of the right post.

Eleven minutes later, Olise found himself in a great position inside the box and took a shot, but a defender made a sliding block. A minute later, the same player had another chance, shooting from the edge of the penalty area, but the ball went just past the left post.

Bayern had two more good chances before the break. First, a brilliant team move ended with Serge Gnabry’s shot from the edge of the box, but the ball went just wide of the right post. Then, same player received a pass deep inside the box and took a shot, but the goalkeeper made a save.

In the end, although the first half was only supposed to have one minute of stoppage time, it was incredibly extended to seven minutes.

The second half was somewhat more exciting, with more concrete chances, especially from the visiting team.

In the 50th minute, Harry Kane attempted to beat the goalkeeper with a free kick from a dangerous position. However, Frederik Ronnow made a perfect save, stopping the shot that was aimed at the bottom left corner.

Union Berlin responded in the 59th minute with a chance of their own. Josip Juranovic received a low ball on the edge of the box and struck a solid shot toward the right post, but Jonas Urbig reacted with a quick reflex save to deny him.

It became clear that Bayern was finally ready to push for a goal about 30 minutes before the end of the match. They intensified their pressure on Union Berlin’s defense, and chances started to come.

First, Jamal Musiala received a precise pass and found himself one-on-one with the goalkeeper, choosing to shoot toward the left side of the goal. But host goalkeeper, like a cat, dived and made an excellent save.

Finally, Leroy Sane received an excellent pass inside the box and found himself one-on-one with the goalkeeper. He struck a low shot into the left corner and SCORED!

The visitors didn’t have much time to celebrate as Benedict Hollerbach slotted a rebound into the bottom left corner after the ball fell to him inside the box. There is the GOAL.
