Young Jamal Musiala scored two goals for the Bavarians

Five rounds until the end of the Bundesliga season, and Bayern Munich needs only 8 points to secure a ninth consecutive title! The Bavarians played a tought match on Saturday against the third placed Wolfsburg, just after a devastating exit from the Champions League and still without Lewandowski, Goretzka and Gnabry, but Hansi Flick’s players did it again and showed their quality: Wolfsburg – Bayern 2-3.

Wolfs are enjoying a great season, with Champions League already on the way, but against current champions, they just don’t have any luck. Bayern has won in the last six matches against the Wolves, and are unbeaten in 11 Bundesliga matches between the teams, and today they extended that record to 12, mainly due to excellent display from young Jamal Musiala, who perfectly used the absence of Gnabry and Coman and scored two goals, with a few more chances. Bayern have another young ace in their team.

After a typical 15 minutes of „warming up“, Bayern opened the scoring with a fantastic goal from Jamal Musiala. A cross from Alphonso Davies was blocked into the path of Musiala, who managed to pass three Wolfsburg defenders and score a great goal for 1-0. And if Bayern’s domination wasn’t enough, it was Wolfsburg goallie Casteels, who catched the ball and then dropped it in front of Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting: 2-0.

Wout Weghorst is Wolfsburg most dangerous player, with 17 Bundesliga goals in 2018/19, 16 last season and 18 so far this season. And after a poor pass from Muller, it was Schlager who supplied the Dutchman for goal number 19 and a glance of hope: 2-1. But Musiala was there just two minutes later to pour a bucket of cold water on Wolfsburg hopes with his second goal of the match.

Young midfielder was close to scoring the hat trick just as the second half started, but Lacroix cleared the ball of the line. And then another glimmer of hope for Wolfsburg. Otavio's cross was picked up by Maxi Philipp for 2-3.

All of a sudden, Bayern’s bench was becoming nervous, because for the next 20 minutes, it was all Wolfsburg. Likely for the Bavarians, the attacks were fruitless and there only Roussillon had a really good chance five minutes until the end. In the end, Bayern remained undefeated and Wolfsburg still have only four wins in 54 games across all competitions against the Bavarians.
