Below-par Mbappe is taken off as a last-second penalty save PSG

Rennes were on the brink of a massive away win, but a polemic decision push the hosts to a 1-1 draw

A late penalty, deep into stoppage time, saved pale Paris Saint-Germain from an excruciating 1-0 home loss to Rennes on Sunday night at Parc des Princes.

Goncalo Ramos scored from the spot in the 95th minute after the VAR check overruled the referee's decision that Steve Mandanda didn't make a foul on PSG's player Beraldo.

It was the climax of an interesting tie that saw visitors flying high on the wings of their inspired forward, Amine Gouiri. He scored a sensational opener - a bursting run into the box embellished with a lovely finish with the outside of his right foot past Donnarumma.

PSG boss Luis Enrique was forced to react quickly, making changes during and shortly after the interval, taking off Lee Kang-In and deplorable Kylian Mbappe. The Madrid-bound forward was booed off while leaving the pitch, which shows the Saints' supporters have lost the plot with Mbappe after confirming his Real Madrid move.

It will be intriguing for both Mbappe and Luis Enrique in the next couple of months at Parc des Princes.
