An intriguing detail caught the eye of the Portuguese: all the players the Saints loaned to Benfica were extremely injury-prone
Renato Sanches, the midfielder who impressed everyone at the EURO 2016, returned to Benfica on loan from Paris Saint-Germain after eight years. Still, he suffered an injury after only two games and will miss the Eagles' beginning of the new Champions League edition. This situation put an interesting coincidence under the spotlight: the Parisians lately loaned Benfica some highly injury-prone players.
I mean PSG love sending us their injuries so why not go for the Tri?

Benfica have recently done business with the Ligue 1 side multiple times, which usually did not pay off. Hence, the Portuguese newspaper A Bola stated that the Eagles caught a "PSG virus." Namely, a year before Sanches, Juan Bernat joined Benfica on loan from Parc des Princes. Still, the former Valencia and Bayern Munich defender made only seven appearances, missing most of the season due to pubic bone surgery.
For the next case, we have to return to September 2022, when Paris Saint-Germain sent Julian Draxler on loan to Estadio da Luz as a great wish of the then Benfica boss and the winger's fellow countryman, Roger Schmidt. That move cost the Eagles €2.5 million and, as it turned out, was money thrown down the drain. Draxler made 18 appearances and scored twice but had various injury problems with his knee, muscles, and ankle, which he ultimately had surgery on.
All in all, Benfica were very unlucky when it comes to additions from Paris, and although it probably is just a coincidence, they will think twice in Lisbon before they opt to bring another reinforcement from The City of Light.
