The tactician was the main man in the advert by one of Africa's largest retailers, Shoprite, for their South African market.
In the advertisement where McCarthy can be seen dancing jovially, the former Bafana Bafana striker is the main act as the supermarket is seeking to give away 30 million South African Rand (R) (approximately Ksh234 million) in total cash prizes.
Shoppers will be handed a chance to win various prizes through scratch cards, which will reveal items won when a perfect match is achieved.
To qualify for a scratch card, buyers will be expected to shop for goods worth R200 (approximately Ksh1560) and above, upon which the card will be issued to them.
Additionally, buyers can get bonus scratch cards by buying any participating products in the Shoprite stores.
Back in Kenya, McCarthy is expected to form a formidable Harambee Stars squad that will effectively compete in the upcoming 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
From the qualifier draw, which was conducted on Tuesday, 19 May, Kenya was pooled in Group D alongside Guinea, Eritrea and McCarthy's home country, South Africa.
The draw will give McCarthy, who is South Africa’s all-time leading goalscorer with 31 goals in 80 appearances, his first opportunity to face his own country in what will be not only a historic but also an emotional moment for the former Manchester United forwards' coach.
McCarthy, who has previously expressed his ambitions of coaching Bafana Bafana, will be hoping to put on a good show in the qualifiers and especially against South Africa to guide Kenya to a top-two finish in the group, even though their place in the 2027 AFCON finals is already secured by virtue of being co-hosts alongside Uganda and Tanzania.
However, the immediate task for the 48-year-old will be guiding Kenya in the upcoming June international window friendlies against Palestine and Kyrgyzstan on Wednesday, 3 and Saturday, 6 June, respectively.
