Bidco United defender Eugene Ikutwa has described Sunday’s vital 2-0 victory over Mathare United as a potential turning point in the club’s turbulent 2024-2025 campaign, as they battle to steer clear of FKF Premier League relegation.

The win, only their second of the calendar year in the league, provided a much-needed lifeline for the struggling Oilers, who had endured a prolonged spell in the drop zone.
The result lifted Bidco to 15th on the table with 27 points, pulling them out of the relegation places for the first time in over five months.
Despite the slim margin separating them from danger, just a point above the Promotion/Relegation Playoff zone and three clear of automatic demotion, Ikutwa is confident that the triumph marks a shift in their season’s trajectory.
"The win against Mathare United was such a timely and massive turnaround to our season, especially in the fight to avoid relegation,” said the towering defender.
“I am certain this is our turning point. We are now aiming for maximum points in the remaining fixtures.”
Bidco’s victory did more than just improve their league standing; it breathed renewed belief into a side that had struggled for consistency, with their only previous win of the year coming in early March against fellow strugglers FC Talanta.
"We had worked hard throughout the week, and the win was welcomed as it massively impacted our confidence levels that had been low,” Ikutwa added.
“It eased the pressure and reignited our fight to stay afloat ahead of the upcoming campaign."
The team, under head coach Anthony Akhulia, will now aim for back-to-back wins for the first time this season, a feat that could be crucial in cementing their top-flight status.
Having earned promotion to the FKF Premier League in 2020, Bidco are determined to avoid a return to the National Super League after five seasons at the top level.
