Moreover, the Real Madrid superstar bought a new car, the BMW iX3, worth €70,000

Kylian Mbappe's knee injury turned out to be more serious than initially assessed, as it wasn't just a knee sprain, but his posterior cruciate ligament is allegedly on the brink. Furthermore, sources from Spain claim the Frenchman has played through the injury, worsening his condition.

Hence, it's no wonder Real Madrid superstar won't risk anything anymore, especially since the 2026 FIFA World Cup kicks off in less than 100 days. Given the crisis they're in, Los Blancos desperately need the help of their leading scorer and the man who netted 38 goals in 33 appearances this season, but alas, he won't be coming back any time soon, or rather, until his knee is completely healed.

However, although it may sound a bit odd, the injury turned out to be a blessing in disguise for Mbappe, as he's finally managed to resolve a long-standing issue and get his driving licence.

Months ago, Kylian's mother, Fayza Lamari, revealed in an interview with L'Equipe that her son didn't hold a driving licence, even though she had urged him to get it.

"I told him to get it, just for him to be alone in a car. He couldn’t get it in Paris for security and organizational reasons," she said last September via Yahoo Sports.

And now, half a year later, her son at last decided to make good use of his free time off the pitch, fulfill his mom's wish, and obtain the driving licence at the age of 27.

However, apart from finally having a permit to drive, the Frenchman will have a new car as well.

Namely, according to RMC Sport, thanks to Madrid's partnership with BMW, Mbappe was gifted a €140,000 electric BMW i7 - a more than five meters long and nearly two meters wide beast.

Yet, given that he is a rookie driver, he traded it for a more compact SUV, the BMW iX3, worth half as much.

Finally, since Mbappe will be sidelined for an indefinite period, he'll have enough time to practice, improve his driving skills, and learn the route from his home to Santiago Bernabeu well.

Is this a silver lining or what?
