Blow for FC Talanta as Gicho and Odhiambo are sidelined until next year

The two forwards picked injuries last weekend while in action against Posta Rangers

Football Kenya Federation Premier League debutants FC Talanta have been dealt a massive blow ahead of their clash against AFC Leopards as the duo of Anthony Gicho and Barrack Odhiambo are set to miss the match.

The two forwards suffered injuries during their last weekend 2-0 loss in the hands of Posta Rangers at Thika Stadium and will resume training next year. 

The Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) conducted on Gicho's ankle exposed a tear on the ligaments and consequently, according to the club's team manager David Chweya, the award winning player will sit out for two months.

Gicho who was named as the best midfielder in last season's National Super League tore his Anterior talofibular ligaments as well as his Lateral peri-malleolar soft tissues.

 Odhiambo on the other hand is set to be examined this weekend to determine the extent of the injury and how long the club will have to do without the services of their skipper. 

"Rangers were very physical and as a result, we lost our two forwards to injuries. Gicho will be out for at least two months while Odhiambo's fate will be known before next week after he has undergone the scanning," he said. 

The absence of the two comes at a time when the club will be seeking to capitalize on Ingwe's poor form and bag their fifth win of the season.Leopards who have been feeling absence of their senior players who left the den in the last transfer window as the club has won two matches this season.

Since their promotion to the top flight, Ken Kenyatta's charges have proved many wrong after losing just two matches from the first nine rounds of the season.

The club that is consisted of a blend of both young and experienced players have raked in four wins and three draws to sit seventh on the log.
