Blow for Ulinzi Stars as dependable defender exits

Ulinzi Stars and Harambee Stars left-back Harun Mwale has announced his departure from the club after five years with the military outfit.

He joined the team in 2017 from St. Joseph’s Youth FC and went on to establish himself as a key player for the soldiers. During his time at the club he earned several to the National team, Harambee Stars and a cap.

The 2010 Kenyan Premier League champions will now have to source for a new left-back to replace Mwale after he confirmed his exit. Is contract expires in October but he says he is not going to sign a new deal. He thanked the team for the support accorded to him during his stay at the club and wished the club well for the future.

“I have three months left in my contract with Ulinzi Stars but I am not going to extend my stay there. It has been some good five years playing for the team, I enjoyed my time there and I want to wish them well for the future. Ulinzi was like family to me because I met so many good people there, made friends there and I will eternally be grateful to them,” he told Mozzart Sport.

Mwale has been linked with a move to champions Tusker, KCB and Mombasa based Bandari FC but the speedster chose to remain tight-lipped on his next move promising to make it public in the next few days.

“I have a couple of offers on the table, I have not made a final decision yet but I will in the next few days. I am still weighing all the offers before making my final decision,” he added.

Tusker were interested in signing defender before the start of last season but Ulinzi were not willing to let him depart.
