His absence now places added pressure on head coach Sammy Otulo to reshuffle his attacking options and maintain momentum

National Super League (NSL) leaders Migori Youth have suffered a major setback in their pursuit of promotion to the FKF Premier League following an injury to influential forward Fredrick Ologi.

The Migori-based outfit will be without the services of their talismanic attacker for the next six weeks after he sustained a fracture to his left leg, during last weekend’s league encounter against debutants Kabati Youth FC.

The tightly contested fixture ended in a frustrating 1-1 draw, extending Migori Youth’s recent struggles after a bright start to the campaign.

Ologi, a former Michael Olunga Football Academy (MOFA) attacker, was forced off during the match after picking up the injury, prompting immediate concern from the technical bench.

Widely regarded as one of the most lethal forwards in the division, the lanky and pacey winger has been central to Migori Youth’s attacking play, offering both goals and creativity in the final third.

The forward has four goals and six assists in the matches played so far.

In an official statement released via the club’s communication channels, Migori Youth confirmed the extent of the injury and the expected recovery timeline.

“ Our winger Fredrick Ologi sustained a fracture to his left leg and will be out of action for an estimated six weeks. Fredrick is already receiving the necessary medical attention and will be closely monitored throughout his recovery.

We wish him a quick and full recovery and look forward to seeing him back on the pitch soon. The entire MYTA family is behind you, Ologi," read the statement.

The timing of the setback could hardly be worse for the Mozzart Bet-backed side.

Migori Youth are currently enduring their most challenging spell of the season, having gone three matches without a win for the first time in the campaign.

Ologi’s absence now places added pressure on head coach Sammy Otulo to reshuffle his attacking options and maintain momentum at the summit of the 20-team standings.

With the promotion race tightening, Migori Youth will be eager to respond positively when they face a resurgent Naivas FC on Sunday, 18 January.

The fixture presents an immediate opportunity for Otulo’s men to arrest their dip in form and demonstrate their resilience in the face of adversity as the NSL title race intensifies.
