Former interim coach Edin Terzic has been given a three year deal

It started really badly, and then nobody wanted to end it. When Lucien Favre was sacked at the end of 2020, Borussia named Edin Terzic, his assistant and former scout of the club during Jurgen Klopp’s era as an interim manager. He started awful, and many believed that Dortmund’s executives made a mistake, but as soon as they confirmed Marco Rose as the new coach for the 2021 season, things turned for the better. The team started to play better and by the end of the season, more and more people felt sad that Edin wasn’t given a long term opportunity. Now he got it.

After a tough decision to move on from a coach they paid 6 million euros after just one year, Borussia’s brass decided to hand over the keys of the team to their Dortmund born Terzic. Former interim manager signed a three year contact with the Millionaires.

We held several intensive discussions with Edin Terzic last weekend and are convinced that this personnel decision is the right one for BVB. Edin knows our club, the environment, a large part of the team and knows what adjustments we want to make in order to be able to offer our fans successful football. The 2022/23 season is characterized by a new sporting start. We will drive this forward together with great joy and passion,” said new sports director Sebastian Kehl for the club’s website.

Apart from the new coach, Borussia already found a replacement for Axel Witsel, who played at Westfalen for four years, collected 145 games, won one German Cup and one Super Cup - and then left Dortmund as a free agent. Borussia quickly found a replacement for him, by hiring Salih Ozcan.

The 24-year-old midfielder in question was brought from Cologne (Koln), so that the Millionaires paid the Capricorns around 5 million euros and in that way got a football player who should compensate for the departure of the experienced Belgian. The contract is until 2026.

"Ozcan is one of the guys who drastically improved on the Bundesliga pitches last season. A key player to Cologne in the midfield. He is an extremely important football player in the "one-on-one" game, and he is also distinguished by a quality when it comes to aerial duels. The guy goes where it hurts, enters duels without compromise, and his mentality and the way he thinks will bring good to our team", Sebastian Kehl, Borussia's sports director, is convinced.

The fifth reinforcement of Borussia has been announced, and the transition period has not officially started yet. Bayern and Freiburg sweepers Niklas Sule and Nico Schlotterbeck came, young Salzburg striker Karim Adeyemi is a replacement for Erling Haaland, while talented goalkeeper Marcel Lotka arrived from Hertha.
