Five CAF Champions League matches are to be played today

African football enthusiasts have been treated to high-octane displays in the U20 Cup of Nations tournament being held in Egypt.

With the tournament set to take a five-day break following the culmination of the semi-final matches, attention shifts to the CAF Champions’ League group stage matches that resume today with five matches on the cards.

The highlight of the matches brings East African giants Simba and Ugandan champions Vipers at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam.

The two met on February 25 at the St. Mary’s Stadium in Kitende where Simba won by a solitary goal scored by Congolese centre back Henock Inonga.

Simba who are home to battle-hardened Kenyan defender Joash Onyango host the return leg looking to bag the second win in pool C of the lucrative continental inter-club tournament.

The match is scheduled to kick off at 7PM EAT under floodlights.

Horoya vs Raja Casablanca - 7PM EAT

Another pool C game will see Guinean giants Horoya AC host Raja Casablanca at the Stade du 28 Septembre.

Horoya lost 2-0 in the reverse fixture played last month in Morocco and will head into today’s game looking to serve the visitors revenge as well as move to two points within their reach.

Zamalek vs Esperance - 10PM EAT

Egyptian giants Zamalek are scheduled to play former champions Esperance of Tunisia at Cairo Stadium.

The White Knights sit at the rock bottom of group D with a point and welcome the Tunisian side looking to bag the first win in the pool and enhance their chances of getting to the knockout stages.

Esperance who top the group with nine points won the first leg played late last month by a 2-0 scoreline

Al Hilal vs Cotonsport - 4PM EAT

Sudanese football powerhouse Al Hilal have a date with Cameroon’s Cotonsport in Khartoum.

Hilal who are placed second in pool B with six points, one behind South African champions Mamelodi Sundowns will be hoping to take maximum advantage of home comfort and hand the visiting team the fourth loss in the group.

Hilal beat Cotonsport 2-1 in the first leg

CR Belouizdad vs Al Merreikh - 10PM EAT

Meanwhile, Algerian side CR Belouizdad will confront Al Merreikh in another group D match.

The Sudanese outfit beat Belouizdad 1-0 in the last meeting held last month in Omdurman and travelled to the North hoping to seal a double over the host club.
