Clubs set to represent Kenya in next season’s CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup have officially been invited to begin the Club Licensing process ahead of the 2026/27 interclub competitions.

The application window will open online on 13 May 2026, with all submissions required to be completed by 12 June 12,2026.

The licensing process is a mandatory requirement for participation in continental football and comes with strict standards covering coaching qualifications, infrastructure, administration, legal structures and financial compliance.

Among the key conditions is that both the head coach and assistant coach must hold at least a CAF A Diploma Licence or a Pro Licence from other recognised federations, reinforcing CAF’s push for higher technical standards across African club competitions.

On the domestic front, Gor Mahia are closing in on the FKF Premier League title and could be crowned champions as early as this weekend.

With three matches remaining, they hold a seven-point lead over AFC Leopards, who also have a game in hand.

The title race could be decided if AFC Leopards fail to beat Ulinzi Stars on Wednesday and drop points again against Kakamega Homeboyz.

This will only come to pass if Gor Mahia beat Murang'a Seal on Sunday.

In the Mozzart Bet Cup, the competition is at the semifinal stage with Bandari FC, Kenya Police FC, Tusker FC, and KCB FC all battling for the trophy, the Ksh 3 million prize, and a place in the CAF Confederation Cup next season.

However, coaching licensing remains a key issue for some of the semifinalists.

Only Tusker FC and KCB FC have both head coaches and assistants holding the required CAF A-diploma licence.

Bandari FC and Kenya Police FC will need adjustments, as Bernard Mwalala and Nicholas Muyoti currently hold CAF B Licences, which do not meet the continental requirement.

Muyoti previously faced a similar setback earlier in the season while at Nairobi United, where he was restricted from the bench during their CAF Confederation Cup campaign due to not holding the CAF A Licence.
