Caicedo fulfills boyhood dream, Chelsea break record again

At the end of January this year, Chelsea bought Enzo Fernandez from Benfica for 121,000,000 euros and set a Premier League record. Now the Blues broke down their own record which was only seven months old. The official confirmation finally arrived - Moises Caicedo is Chelsea’s new player for 133,600,000 euros. Apart from the huge transfer fee for the yet unproven player, the other big story is the fact that Liverpool’s bid was accepted, but the player snubbed the Reds and decided to join the Blues!

Now it may be a bit clearer why the talented soccer player from Ecuador refused to move from Brighton to Liverpool for a record sum. Three years ago, he took a picture in a Chelsea’s jersey with his mother, while he was still in his homeland. The London club pulled a photo from the archives and used it to unveil the new most expensive signing in the club's history.

"Today is the day, my son. A lot of time has passed since this photo in Cayambe in 2020, but it's finally happened and now our dream has finally come true. Everyone's dream. The family's dream” said his mom in a promotion video, announcing her son’s arrival to Stamford Bridge.

It was obvious that Caicedo has fulfilled his boyhood dream.

Caicedo will thus form Chelsea's midfield tandem with Fernandez, and it is interesting that three years ago they played against each other in the final of the U20 Copa Libertadores - Moises in the jersey of Independiente del Valle, Enzo as a footballer of River Plate.
