Doubts continue to linger on whether the league winners will play in the Champions League next season.
Following the Harambee Starlets debacle, doubts are lingering on whether the league winners will represent the country in next season’s CAF Champions League but FKF Caretaker head of competitions Ali Amour has put the doubts to bed.
Starlets saw their Africa Women Cup of Nations (AWCON) qualifier against Uganda postponed after former FKF CEO Barry Otieno respond to CAF noting that they were unable to prepare for the match following their disbandment in November.
Defending champions Tusker FC missed out on the chance to go second after playing to a barren draw against hosts Ulinzi Stars on Wednesday 16 February 2022.

Amour who sits in the FKF Caretaker Committee assured the league winners that they would earn a ticket to participate in the CAF Champions League.
“The winner cannot be a winner and fail to represent the country, the winner will have to go somewhere, teams and players have expectations. The wrangles will soon come to an end because you cannot say that the team which wins the league will not represent the country.” Said Amour in an interview with NTV.
Currently, Kakamega Homeboyz lead the standings but are embroiled in a tight title race with six teams still firmly in contention with the league as the winner hopes to become the first Kenyan team to play in the Champions League Group Stages.

With the Caretaker Committee’s mandate set to expire on May 6, doubts have also been cast on the upcoming football national team assignments as Kenya has sat out of the last international break.
Amour however added that problems only arose during the Starlets game with the final 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier match and continental club competitions taking place.
“Harambee Stars played against Rwanda, Gor Mahia and Tusker played in the CAF competitions and there was no hitch, the only problem was with Starlets.” Added Amour.
