The double-header will see Harambee Stars battle Angola at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani, from 7:00 pm, while DR Congo faces Zambia at Nyayo National Stadium at 4:00 pm.
With massive crowds expected at both venues, Officer Commanding Traffic, Nairobi County, Joseph Chirchir, urged the public to avoid Thika Road unless they are heading to Kasarani.
He advised motorists travelling from Nairobi to Juja, Ruiru, and Thika to instead use Kiambu Road or Limuru Road.
Fans heading to Kasarani by public transport will have to use Ruaraka–Baba Dogo Road and Ngomongo Road to access the Ngomongo roundabout, from where they can approach the stadium.
Private motorists coming from Thika Road towards the Nairobi CBD will be diverted to the Eastern Bypass, Kiambu Road, or Limuru Road as alternatives.
At Nyayo National Stadium, several key roads will be temporarily closed.
Aerodrome Road will be shut between Madaraka roundabout and Bunyala roundabout, restricting access near the stadium.
A section of Lang’ata Road, stretching from the Madaraka roundabout to one side of the Lusaka Road roundabout, will also be closed.
Additionally, part of Mombasa Road, between the Lusaka roundabout and the Bunyala roundabout, will be affected by the restrictions.
Motorists using Mombasa Road to Nairobi CBD have been advised to divert through Likoni–Enterprise Road at General Motors or use the Southern Bypass via Ole Sereni.
Those approaching the city from Lang’ata Road should consider Raila Odinga Road (formerly Mbagathi Way) or Muhoho Road via the Mbagathi roundabout.
The traffic changes come as excitement continues to build for CHAN, with Harambee Stars riding high after their 1-0 win over DR Congo.
With Thursday’s fixtures poised to attract tens of thousands of fans, police are urging early travel, patience on the roads, and full cooperation with traffic officers.
