Otieno dislocated his ankle while in action against Mathare United in August

Nairobi City Stars centre back Wycliffe Otieno is projected to start jostling for playing time early in January or late in December, club doctor Brian Odongo has revealed.

Otieno dislocated his ankle during their 2-0 league match loss in the hands of Mathare United at the Ruaraka grounds in August but according to the club Chief Executive Officer Patrick Korir he has since began light training.

The injury was initially thought will see the experienced defender sidelined for a lengthy period, however Odongo says he will be fit enough to play at the competitive level either before the month ends of early in January.

Odongo said the defender's fitness levels depicted in the sessions he has had were at forty percent in as far as shooting the ball was concerned and at sixty percent in sprinting.

"Wycliffe resumed training a couple of days ago but he will not be immediately available for selection for he is yet to be fully fit. He is still under rehabilitation and hopefully, he will be ready either by the end of the month or in January," he said.

"Treating a dislocated ankle takes time as the patient is always advised not to do anything in the first three weeks after the injury. Ninety percent of the dislocations tag along with fractures but I am glad that he only damaged the ligaments," he added.

Apart from giving an update on the former Kariobangi Sharks centre-back, the former Gor Mahia Youth doctor disclosed that the duo of Eric Ombija and John Kamau were nursing slight injuries picked in the test matches the club has been playing for the time competitive football has been on a break.

He said Ombija who was signed from Gor Mahia in September last year had a knock on his ankle while the versatile Kamau sustained a cut in training.
